PUNE: Kale Consultants, a solutions provider specializing in travel and transportation industry, would be soon coming out with new solutions for the Cargo segment.

These would be in areas of wireless technology, better use of RFID, etc. with added features on functionality. Vipul Jain, CEO and managing director of Kale Consultants, said, “Every year we develop new versions and extensions on existing products besides new areas. On the latter front, there is a lot of empty space in turfs like passenger services, loyalty programmes, fulfillment solutions, travel agents and e-commerce. We have been successful in many niches and want to replicate that success in other areas too.” Indian Airlines would be rolling out its cargo management solutions globally next. “The solution for them is pay-per-use on a hosted platform and runs on power center. It has been deployed in 30 stations now,” he added.

The company that offers products, BPO services and IT solutions to the airline industry is also putting in place its strategy for getting strong on hospitality vertical. Substantial action here is expected in two to three years, Jain shared.

Kale Consultants has recently added BMI Airlines from UK to its customer kitty. “They have now transitioned to our solutions. We would be their revenue department in effect.” It signed on Direct Logistics and Apollo LogiSolutions in Feb 2007. The client list includes Delta Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Finnair Cargo, DAHACO, Kuala Lumpur Airport, SkyTeam Alliance, Accovia and Air Luxor.

The company recently won the Nasscom IT Innovation Award for creating a Platform Based BPO business model for the travel and transportation industry that claims to take outsourcing beyond cost arbitrage with the blend of technology and domain knowledge.
