New app turns an Android tablet into a TV

BANGALORE, INDIA: Sling Media Inc. has launched SlingPlayer for tablets running versions 3.0 or later of the Android operating system.

Available for purchase on the Android Market, the application lets Slingbox owners extend their living room TV experience to their tablets, said a press release.

"A Slingbox is the perfect accessory to an Android tablet. When combined with SlingPlayer, now anyone with an Android device can enjoy a beautiful, personalized TV experience anywhere in the world," said Raman Venkatachar, general manager and head of operations at Sling Media.

“With the Android market fast catching up, we feel this new state-of-the-art software will be a very significant value-addition to the user experience,” he added.

When connected to a Slingbox 120 or PRO-HD, SlingPlayer software makes it easy to watch your home TV on your Android tablet running Android version 3.0 or later.

The release further added that, SlingPlayer for tablets is compatible with all Android tablets running versions 3.0 or later and offers robust streaming capability delivering the finest video experience.
