This would most probably be a company from Pune and could cap up to a 50 per cent stake. Govind Kizhepat, founder and CEO of NetXen shared, “We are looking for the right skill sets in the software and firmware side. If not in Pune, then possibly any other good fit in India would be a probable acquisition target.”

Meanwhile, on the hardware side, Netxen is on the prowl for a development center in China or Taiwan by 2008. This could be of the size of a $5 million system software and networking sector company.

Kizhepat, alongside intends to invest $5 million in India in the next two years and increase the head count in India to 100. The current strength at Pune is around 30 people. The company has also earmarked plans to set up a 24/7 testing lab here. Netxen development team is based in Pune and the US. Kizhepat maintains that development action would stay in these two regions only but sales footprint would be across the globe.

He is bullish about leading the intelligent networking chip based product market. “The intelligent network processing market is growing and we are ahead with the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Technology. The market in this space has just started hotting up and we command the bulk by serving the big shots like HP, IBM and Dell.”
