MUMBAI: Network Associates (NA) is bringing in a new range of security
products in a bid to target corporates.
SAARC country manager, Vishwajeet Deshmukh said that in the coming months NA
would introduce their PGP Corporate Desktop Suite. "The product would soon
be launched globally and then it will also be brought to India." He claimed
that the product provides complete desktop security to the corporates.
The company has opted for a soft launch of this product and is planning to
educate partners about the use of the product. The company expects 10 per cent
of the company revenues, within a year to come from the product. PGP Corporate
Desktop 7.5 Privacy Products is a suite of critical privacy products including
PGPfire, PGPmail, PGPdisk and PGPvpn, which are integrated with McAfee's ePolicy
Orchestrator (ePO) technology to provide the administrator with superior
management capabilities.
The PGP Corporate Desktop 7.5 is among the first security products of its
type that can be managed from the same console as anti-virus products. The ePO
management tool also provides single-console control for PGP Corporate Desktop's
distributed firewall/IDS module, PGPfire. PGPfire combines packet-filtering,
application firewall and comprehensive intrusion detection.
PGPfire features "Smart-rules" for configuring application-specific
parameters. It also has the Learning Mode, which allows IT managers to build a
comprehensive policy for desktop firewalls based on IP addresses, subnets,
ranges, protocols and application-specific rules for both inbound and outbound
traffic. The embedded intrusion detection system features 16 attack detection
kits that are automatically updated as new attacks are discovered.
The IDS also detects IP spoofing, a common DOS attack. When attacks are
discovered, the system logs a detailed report to the ePO manager, then alerts
the administrator who can determine the appropriate response, to protect the
entire enterprise.
Integrated tools help the administrator to determine how significant the
alert is and deploy the appropriate response to protect all users.
The Corporate Desktop 7.5 modules are fully interoperable. Each of the
modules including PGPfire, PGPmail, PGPdisk and PGPvpn, can be installed and
uninstalled in any combination to provide customized functionality.
Each product uses a common crypto system for key management and security
functions. This suite is available on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000,
Windows NT, Windows 98, Mac OS 9.x, and Mac OS.
The company has a support center located in Mumbai and there are plans of
setting up their development center in India. Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore are
amongst the possible locations for the center.
The courses ranging between $ 2000 to $ 2500 for a single course will be
repriced for the Indian market.
