BANGALORE: Network Appliance is gearing up its Indian operations. The company
is planning to target more local Indian companies with its series of storage
products. The company is also considering increasing its headcount substantially
to beef up its presence in the country.
According to Thomas Chin, Managing Director - Asia Pacific, Network Appliance
has said that the Indian market holds a lot of importance for Network Appliance
and the company plans to invest substantially in the country. He said that the
Network Appliance’s Indian operations were growing at a much faster rate than
the company’s total presence in the ASEAN region put together.
Chin remarked that the company had till now been targeting mainly the MNCs in
India with its storage products but after seeing the potential growth prospects
of the local Indian companies, the company would now aggressively target them in
India. "Since our technology is scalable and can be upgraded continuously
without changing the system we hope to add on a large number of Indian companies
with our storage products," Chin added.
"We are in the process of expanding our presence in the states of
Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu as we feel it has a lot of potential as
far as the storage market for our products is concerned. In order to address
these offices we plan to increase our reseller base in these regions. We are
also looking forward to strengthen the staff in our existing three offices in
Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai so that they are able to target the storage market
in these regions more aggressively " informed Chin.
The company is also planning to target the Oil and Gas, financial services
and the telecommunications segment more aggressively than before in India.
"We feel that our products can be of great help in these sectors which
requires a lot of data storage and we just want to leverage on these potential
growth segments for our products," remarked Anal Jain, Managing Director
India and SAARC, Network Appliance.
Jain informed that the company has recently won a customer in the oil and gas
sector in the form of ONGC but it has plans to substantially increase its
presence in the sector more aggressively in the near future. Besides this the
company also has set its eyes upon the growing biotech sector in India
especially in Bangalore.
The company has plans to strengthen its sales and support services in the
country and also increase its technical back up staff to address the needs of
its customers more effectively and efficiently.
