MUMBAI: With broadband soon becoming a routine for accessing Internet, Netgear wants to reap the huge potentials that VoIP market offers in India. The company is planning to introduce VoIP phones in the JAS quarter for the first time in India.
Confirming this, Netgear regional sales manager (West & South) Kerman Rana said, "We already have an edge in the VoIP market with our switching products which are ideal for deploying VoIP phones, access points or IP-based cameras. By the end of the JAS quarter, we will introduce VoIP products which will include VoIP phones."
Besides launching new products, Netgear has many other plans to strengthen its position in the country. The company plans to set up proper offices in a month's time. Currently, all the Netgear staff operates from their home office.
With proper office setups, Netgear plans to broad base its channel network. "We will be improving our geographical reach by expanding our channel network. All these put together we expect to be among the top three vendors in this space," Rana said.
In just a year's time, Netgear has fared well in the switches and Wireless-LAN products market. "We are already doing very well with our Wireless-LAN products, said Rana."
Meanwhile, according to the latest survey reports by Voice&Data and CyberMedia Research, Netgear ranked No.3 in sales (value) in year 2004-05 for WLAN products.
