Netgear educates users on Wireless-G router

NEW DELHI, INDIA: With an objective to make the users mobile at home or office, Netgear Inc. a provider of networking solutions, on Monday announced that as an initiative to educate the partners and the users about easy of usage of Wireless-G router, the company has suggested few easy steps for the configuration.

Wireless solution offer the users mobility and flexibility, allowing them to access the Internet from anywhere at home or office.

The user can use wireless network built around DG834G / DGN2000 to share Internet access, files, printers, and do virtually every thing as one does with wired connection but the problem is that the user is scared of the complexity involved in the configuration, said a press release.

In order to get rid of the hassles, Netgear has issued simple steps, which can help the users to configure the wireless setup.

Atul Jain, country manager, Netgear India and SAARC, said “This is a myth that wireless networking products always requires trouble shooting. It is not safe, but I assure that Netgear integrated product DG834G / DGN2000, actually proves every body wrong.”

Installing wireless modems or routers may seem daunting task, but with Wireless-G router - cum -ADSL2+ modem DG834G / DGN2000, it is really quite straightforward. If you want Internet access in several rooms of the house, setting up a wireless network is a breeze compared to stringing Ethernet cables, said the release.

All the users need to have is only the user name and password, VPI and VCI number and Multiplexing method (VC based or LLC based).

If you don’t have this information you can call your ADSL provider and get the values and follow the steps given below in the table to complete you installation.

Steps to configure the device
1. Connect a wired computer to the LAN port of the router. It is mandatory that the WAN port is connected to the phone line.
2. Connect modem router to power. It is advisable to use a Win XP / Vista computer for configuration with Java installed into.
3. Keep the computer and DNA in “Obtain an IP Address Automatically” mode.
4. Go to the DOS prompt and check whether the computer is getting an IP of 192.168.1.x range from the modem router DHCP.
5. Now you should be able to Ping the router IP 192.168.1.1.
6. The next step is to open Internet Explorer (Version 6.0 is a must) and the address bar type http://192.168.1.1.
7. The Setup Wizard page will pop up and it will ask you whether you want Netgear Setup Wizard to configure Internet. Select Yes and follow the steps.
8. It will ask for ADSL user name, password, VPI, VCI number and multiplexing method.
9. Supply the values, if correct you should be able to connect to Internet
