NetApp unveils Private Storage for AWS

BANGALORE, INDIA: Storage company NetApp unveiled Private Storage for AWS, an enterprise storage solution that utilizes AWS Direct Connect to establish a dedicated network connection from existing infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

With this offering, organizations can now replicate data from on-premise NetApp storage environments to NetApp Private Storage in an AWS Direct Connect facility to leverage on-demand cloud services, says a release.

It allows customers to leverage NetApp Private Storage along with Amazon Elastic Map Reduce (EMR) to accomplish big data analysis.

It also enables them to deploy disaster recovery by leveraging Amazon EC2 in failover scenarios; and leverage tiered disk back-up and recovery using Amazon S3.

It brings NFS and CIFS support to AWS cloud infrastructure and support secure synchronous or asynchronous data replication to move data between AWS regions.

NetApp Private Storage for AWS is available in North America and will be available in Europe and Asia soon.
