DELHI, August 27 : Net Visions, a
Delhi-based web publishing and marketing company, has developed a software
product, Net Power, for enabling sites to introduce e-commerce. The
software, priced around Rs 2 lakh, has four modules -- user registration,
inventory control, shopping cart and order tracking.
The company has invested Rs 15-20 lakh in the
development of this product over two years and is targeting at five to six
installations both for Indian and foreign sites before March 2000. The
company, which has designed web sites for companies such as Action Shoes,
Archies Greetings, Microtek, etc, believes that Net Power is the first
e-commerce solution developed in India. "The only other major player
is IBM. This product is different in that, it does not require third party
hardware and software solutions to run on, existing investments in server
and other technologies for the Web site is enough and it works on all
environments except OS2. IBM’s solution requires the entire range of IBM
hardware and software to work on. The product has been tested mainly for
UNIX though it can work on Linux, NT and Solaris.
The company is already negotiating with a US and a UK
company for installing the product by October this year. The other three
are being targeted at Indian companies, which should be through by March
2000. The company is also expanding its manpower from 20 this year to 35
by 2000.
In addition to Net Power, the company has products for
portals, e-mail and web-based document management.
