BANGALORE: Net Brahma Technologies, a Microland Limited holding company, is
to be acquired by Metro-Optix, a US based telecommunications optical networking
equipment provider. In this regard a MoU to divest the complete stake in
NetBhrama has been signed by Microland and Metro-Optix. However the acquisition
is subject to necessary share-holder and regulatory approvals. An official
statement from Mircoland said, "Metro-Optix has decided to leverage the
technical expertise and intellectual property developed by Net Brahma to
kick-start its India Engineering Center."
Microland Group’s CMD, Pradeep Kar said, "In a short span of 18
months, Net Brahma has evolved from a networking software services provider to
being a leading IP led products company. To realize our dream of being a
significant player in this market, it became imperative that we had to align
with a leading company that was significantly well capitalized with a distinct
vision for the future."
Metro-Optix chairman, Arun Bellary said, "Net Brahma’s technical
expertise and protocol stacks developed in the areas of MPLS, Routing, as well
as convergence are very impressive and fit in well with our vision. Going
forward, the Net Brahma team will enable us to rapidly accelerate the
development of several critical product features in order to gain a larger
market share in India quickly."
Net Brahma, a Microland Group company launched in July 2000, focuses on
providing software blocks for next generation equipment makers. The company has
provided custom engineering software services in the areas of routing,
tunneling, SNMP, traffic engineering to several leading US equipment makers. Net
Brahma has also built protocol stacks in the areas of MPLS, BGP4, DiffServ, MGCP,
MEGAGO and SIP.
