NEET 2020

Students have raised concerns over NEET 2020 exams being held next month. The pandemic is at its highest and conducting exams in these times? This has raised a lot of questions on the HRD Ministry. While college exams may not come under its jurisdiction, the central government has autonomy over entrance tests.

Also, many reports have suggested that there might be news coming up today regarding CBSE and other exams. We expect Union HRD Ministry to issue an update on CBSE July exam, JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 examinations today, June 22. The ministry will tell if they have decided whether to postpone or cancel various examinations due to the rising COVID-19 cases.

What is latest on NEET 2020 postponement?

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal last week had conducted various review meetings with officials. These included people from NTA, CBSE, School Education and Literacy department. They had a conversation about the examination schedule and the reopening of schools. Then, Pokhriyal had commented that his priority is the safety and security of students and teachers.

This also raised questions when students took to twitter. They asked him to postpone JEE and NEET 2020 if he meant his words. Earlier, the CBSE informed the Supreme Court that they will decide on whether to cancel or postpone the exams before June 23rd. And today is June 22. We have our fingers crossed.

Also, in a recent development, the Karnataka government has postponed the COMEDK Exams. The earlier date was July 25 and the new date is August 1. But today's decision will pertain to the entire country irrespective of the state or education board. This gives hope as many boards have already postponed exams.

NEET 2020 was supposed to be conducted on July 26. Even if it gets postponed, a source (on condition of anonymity) close to the matter expected it to be pushed further before August 15.
