Need to push lending to SMEs: Banks

NEW DELHI, INDIA: In a pre-budget meeting with finance minster Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday, of banking and financial institutions suggested that the government push lending to the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.

The CMDs/CEOs also said that it is important to focus on the need to encourage agriculture and SME lending.

They have also urged the government to give incentives to the banks who have done well in terms of financial inclusion so that they can take them to the next level of economic inclusion.
