NEC, Wipro discuss areas of future engagements

BANGAORE: A high level NEC delegation headed by NEC Corporation, executive

vice-president and NEC Solutions, company president, Akinobu Kanasugi visited

Wipro and discussed areas of future engagements between the two companies.

Wipro Technologies and NEC have been working together for almost four years,

during which the relationship between the two companies has grown from strength

to strength. Wipro works on NEC’s software products in the enterprise system

management and security management area, and more than 80 per cent of Wipro’s

consultant who work for NEC, do development projects in the e-enabling space.

Kanasugi and the delegation from NEC, Wipro Technologies, vice-president -

Japan business unit, Shreedhara Shetty said, "NEC has appreciated the value

proposition demonstrated and implemented by Wipro Technologies by moving us up

the value chain in terms of doing enhancement of NEC products. The net effect

has been that NEC sees Wipro more as a partner than as a services

provider."

Presently more than 100 Wipro software consultants are providing NEC the

best-in-breed software solutions through ShoreGain, Wipro’s proven

offshore-onsite delivery model. Wipro had established a dedicated ODC (offshore

Development Centre) for NEC in 1999.

Kanasugi said, "NEC Solutions and Wipro have been working for the last

3.5 years in coming out with the components and product suites for NEC's mission

critical platform based solution. We respect Wipro's excellent support in

building a strong team of architects and consultants in helping NEC come up with

these components and product suites".

Kanasugi was accompanied by Yukio Ebino, executive general manager; Kenichi

Shibayanagi, director Global Business Promotion Department; from NEC Solutions,

Toshihiko Takahashi, President of NEC System Technologies ,Ltd., Noboru Ishii,

chief manager, NEC System Technologies, Ltd.,.

Wipro Technologies commenced their Japan operations in 1995, and today almost

8 per cent of Wipro Technologies’ revenues come from Japan, covering both

enterprise applications as well as technology services. The projects undertaken

by Wipro in Japan cover areas including internet technologies, e-commerce,

mobile commerce, embedded systems, ASIC design and telecom applications.
