NEW DELHI: NEC has announced the launch of its NEAX 2000 IPS Internet protocol server in Asia. NEAX 2000 is NEC’s first IP telephony system to support 100 percent peer-to-peer (P2P) connectivity that offers system reliability and features associated with Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) PBXs. The NEAX 2000 IPS is designed to provide telephony solutions for small to medium sized business and enterprises.
It may be recalled that NEC’s telephony products are marketed and serviced in India by Enkay Telecom, and it would handle the NEAX 2000 too.
Noel Hon, managing director, NEC, Singapore informed that the NEAX 2000 IPS protects the customer’s investments on the current NEAX 7400 ICS Model100MX while allowing the flexibility of a migration to IP switching. The NEAX 7400 ICS Model100MX family has sold roughly 80,000 systems worldwide. Hon added that all of these units can be upgraded to the NEAX 2000.
Addressing the media gathering, Nanik Rupani, chairman of Enkay Telecom said, "Convergence of voice and data results in cost savings, particularly as annual expenditure in areas such as carrier costs, PBX software, and support staff are significantly reduced."
The NEAX 2000 is available in a variety of configurations that will allow it to provide solutions ranging from traditional PBXs to cent per cent IP telephony. Like the earlier versions, the IPS can be networked back from a branch office to a central site NEAX PBX.
