NEC, HCL open Techno Park in Noida

NEW DELHI: Japan-based NEC Corporation and HCL Technologies Ltd today inaugurated their new facility, Logix Techno Park, at Noida near here to provide a single window view over all the NEC-HCL operations in high-end offshore led software engineering solutions in network and security.

The Techno Park is spread over an area of 20,000 sq ft with an investment of $5 million. NEC and HCL had announced this first major partnership in June.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Toshihiko Takahashi, president, NEC System Technologies Ltd, said that the park would develop embedded software, hardware design, research and development, high performance computing and mobile technology.

“India being the powerhouse of software excellence and a major destination for Japanese investment in sectors like telecom and information technology. We believe working with an Indian IT giant like HCL we will be able to value add to our business and contribute to our growth strategy,” Takahashi said.

“This is our first step in the direction of a long and fruitful relationship and we are confident that HCL will have a strong platform to strengthen its global presence and have wider access to Japan's IT market, which is one of the world's larger and more complex markets,” president HCL, Vineet Nayar said.

Nayar said that the company is planning to up its strength to 150 by 2006 and 300 by the end of 2007. Presently the team comprises 50 people. The senior leadership team led by CEO, Anil Gupta, CTO, Anup Dutta and the Advisory Committee with representation from the top management from each partner will be formed to set the future direction of the company.

Nasdaq-listed NEC is a provider of Internet, broadband network and enterprise business solutions.
