NDITA blames BSNL for losing business

NAMMAKKAL, INDIA: Namakkal BSNL officials have been accused by Namakkal District Information Technology Association (NDITA) for using a third party to setup broadband connection, paving way for the person in question to gain monetary benefits by unethical means. NDITA has also accused that some BSNL staffs are making money out of this ‘word-of-mouth’ deal.

According to the association, BSNL sends Sakthivel of Alfa System to the customer’s place, who asks for Broadband connection. Sakthivel introduces himself as BSNL staff and is authorized by BSNL to setup the broadband connection.

“Sakthivel uses this opportunity for his personal gains, a way to make money by misinforming the customers that their system, which is perfectly working fine, has some problem with OS, LAN card and also says that the system is infected with virus,” said Ravichandran, President, NDITA.

Through this deal with Sakthivel, some Namakkal BSNL officials are also getting monetary benefits, NDITA alleges.

“Sakthivel affixes ‘Alfa System’ stickers on the systems sold by our association members. He also creates some technical problems purposely that cannot be solved by the BSNL staff,” noted Ravichandran.

The association has sent a memorandum to Divisional Engineer Radha, Namakkal BSNL, VO, CGM, Chennai, VO, CGMP, Chennai, DGM Rural (Salem), DGM Admin (Salem), Divisional Engineer Admin (Salem), DGM Namakkal, Divisional Engineer Namakkal demanding immediate action.

“This issue has become a quandary to the BSNL customers and our association members as well who are losing their business due to this. We want BSNL to look into the issue and take stern action immediately, which will eliminate the wrong perception against BSNL and also protect the business interest of our association members,” noted Ravichandran.

On condition of anonymity, a key official of BSNL’s Vigilance Department, Chennai, said, “I will speak to the concerned officials and look into the matter.”
