NDA-ruled states outperform UPA in e-governance initiatives

BANGALORE, INDIA: While the Union Government is driving the Aadhaar enrolment process quite aggressively, the non-UPA ruled states seem to be better performers in terms of implementing various citizen centric e-governance initiatives in their respective states.

The 16th National Conference on eGovernance scheduled to be held on February 11 and 12 have announced the 'National Awards for eGovernance 2012-13'. Gujarat State Government's performance has been outstanding with the state winning four National eGovernance awards under various categories.

According to the winners list released by www.nceg.gov.in reveals, Gujarat Government bagged four awards (for its 'Online Voting System (OVS)', 'XLN-Xtended Licensing & Laboratory Node of SALES' (for the Food and Drugs Control Administration), 'MAGIC (Mineral Administration and Governance using ICT)', 'iMINE (IT Intervention for Managing Integrated Networked Enterprise)').

Among the other states that bagged an award were Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).
