NCKU signs MOU with Fujitsu to set up analytics platform for Big Data

TAINAN, TAIWAN: National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, and Fujitsu Taiwan LTD. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for building an analytics platform for big data.

Dr. Hwung-Hweng Hwung, president of NCKU, and Ikegami Ichirou, president and chief executive officer of Fujitsu Taiwan, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations.

With the solid engineering research of NCKU, which helps promote the application of microbiology and agricultural sciences, and input from Fujitsu, a leading Japanese information and communication technology (ICT) company, the platform is expected to enlarge NCKU's role in global agricultural research.

With the MOU, the cooperation between NCKU and Fujitsu will be escalated to another level as their partnership will strengthen the collaboration among academia, industry, and government in Taiwan and Japan.

NCKU President Hwung said that under the MOU, both parties will establish a platform for cloud computing and big data analysis to help develop agriculture and genomics research.

The initial cooperation between NCKU and Fujitsu will focus on nurturing talents, followed by researchers exchange through holding conferences and workshops.

Fujitsu and NCKU will jointly build a big data analytics platform of agriculture and bioinformatics, explore the important genomics research issues, and share R&D results.
