Mobile gaming company Nazara Games has acquired 55 percent stake in Gurgaon based e-sports gaming firm Nodwin Gaming. After this acquisition, Nodwin will become an independent subsidiary of Nazara. With this acquisition, Nazara aims to strengthen its portfolio of offerings in the virtual interactive sports genre in India and other emerging markets.

Manish Agarwal, CEO of Nazara Games, said, “Nazara Games understands the mobile gaming aspect both locally and globally and Nodwin Gaming is the most dominant player, it has 90-95 percent of the eSports gaming revenues in the Indian market and is a highly profitable company.”

Nodwin Gaming, founded in 2014, is a joint venture between founders Akshat Rathee, Gautam Virk and Jetsynthesys Pvt. Ltd, a Pune-based firm which owns several digital media properties.

With the acquisition, Nazara plans to create gaming tournaments in India, including localized content around global events (ESL One, ESL Pro League, Intel Extreme Masters, The International by Valve, etc) and expand on its partnership with publishers and advertisers.

Akshat Rathee, CEO, and MD, Nodwin Gaming, said, “E-sports is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide. This acquisition by Nazara Games adds to the credibility of Nodwin and opens up a wide vista of opportunities for Indian e-sports players to build careers domestically and internationally. It strengthens our ability to provide our key stakeholders better experiences and bigger opportunities to engage with our community.”
