The CTOs, are recognizing the power of flexibility, economics and manageability in SaaS model as Peter Coffee, director of Platform Research, Salesforce pointed out at a session on CTO outlook at NILF 2009 today.

"By 2011, more than 70 per cent of enterprise data centers will hit the wall on power, cooling and space." Cloud computing is not only the present but the future, he stressed.

Mike Connly, CTO, United Heath group, on the other hand identified collaboration as the exciting area next.

"Web 2.0 is not just a buzzword but has huge ability of collaboration. Collaboration is not disruptive. Today's challenge is how to unlock this tremendous power for our customers and engineers. The future lies in technology that is more open and free."

As hopefully conjectured, the focus won't be just about cost-reduction because there would always be someone who is ready to spend more on a better technology for a happy customer.
