NASSCOM SPL: Infy may cut salary, not jobs

MUMBAI, INDIA: The issue of salary cut and lay off  that is troubling the industries worldwide had its reflection at the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum 2009 here too.

While answering the queries of the media regarding the salary cut Vs lay off issue, Infosys mentor N R Narayana Murthy said that the company he founded would consider a salary cut if necessary, hinting that the company is not in favor of issuing the pink slip.

“The industry perspective is for the Nasscom to look into. At Infosys, if necessary, the top management may consider salary cut,” he told reports.

While answering a question on the economic slowdown and how long will it take to make a turnaround, Murthy said: “Possibly between nine to 18 months, we can expect a turnaround. It's hard to predict anything at this point.”
