BANGALORE: Nasscom, the apex industry body of software and service companies in India, released the top 15 ranking of third party ITES (Call Center and BPO) companies on the eve of its annual ITES-BPO event. The rankings are based on revenues for 2003-04 reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States (US GAAP). According to the survey, WNS has emerged as the frontrunner followed by Wipro Spectramind and Daksh e-Services Pvt. Ltd. at the second and third position respectively.
The ITES-BPO segment contributes 29 percent of the total IT Software and Service exports from India and witnessed a growth of 46 percent to reach US $3.6 billion in 2003-04.
Speaking on the survey, Mr. Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom said, "The ITES-BPO industry has witnessed phenomenal growth, and this has included "third-party" players. Given this growth, rankings are necessarily dynamic. The Nasscom rankings, which we release today are in accordance with the US GAAP format and reinforce Nasscom’s initiative of encouraging Indian Industry to adopt the global best practices, which are transparent and reliable.
"The Nasscom rankings have emerged as an industry benchmark, which is used by analysts and customers globally," Mr. Karnik further added.
The ITES-BPO segment witnessed a growth of 46 percent to reach US $3.6 billion in 2003-04 from USD 2.5 billion in 2002-03. In the last financial year, ITES-BPO companies were the largest recruiters in the IT/ITES sector adding about 70,000 jobs. This sector is estimated to register a growth of about 40 percent in FY 2004-05 to reach revenues of US$ 5.1 billion.
In order to provide further impetus to the ITES-BPO segment, Nasscom is hosting its annual two-day ITES-BPO Strategy Summit on June 9-10, 2004 in Bangalore.
