The growth is attributed to the increasing number of PCs worldwide, which is expected to reach 1.3 billion by 2010. Worldwide increase in the number of mobiles and broadband subscribers also play a part in the growth.

According to the report, the market for gaming is expected to witness a CAGR of 78 percent and reach USD 300 million by 2009 from USD 30 million in 2005.

The industry needs 30,000 people to meet these projections, according to NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik. He said India has a potential to grow both as a global sourcing destination as well as a market.

Karnik recommended that some part of television programmes should have animation content to create demand, and suggested government incentives for the same.

"We have a vibrant film industry but we failed to create demand for animation," he rued. ``Major international studios were looking at India but the industry was not geared for this,'' he added.
