NASSCOM IT user awards presented

MUMBAI, INDIA: NASSCOM, the voice of Indian IT and BPO industry, in association with CNBC TV-18, today announced the winners of the ‘IT User Awards 2010’, an initiative that acknowledges enterprises which have successfully made use of Information Technology to deliver significant business value to their customers.

The theme for this year was 'Leadership in using IT for business transformation', NASSCOM said in a statement.

The winners in different verticals are: BPCL (Energy & Utilities), Marico (Manufacturing), Shoppers Stop (Retail), Tata Teleservices (Telecom), Maruti (Automotive), BIAL and Meru (Travel and Logistics), SBI (Banking), BSE (Financial Services), ICICI Lombard (Insurance), Allergan India (Health & Pharma)

Sachin Pilot, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was the chief guest at the award ceremony and Sudha Pillai, Member Secretary; Planning Commission was present as the guest of honour. Harsh Manglik, Chairman NASSCOM and Lakshmi Narsimhan, CEO, Web 18 were also present at the event.

Congratulating the award winners, Som Mittal said, “The domestic IT market in India is poised to grow significantly driven by an increase in the nominal GDP growth and increased penetration of technology services. The globalization of Indian corporations and a new breed of demanding Indian customers are likely to lead to increasing sophistication of domestic product complexity, delivery flexibility and service levels. These trends will have significant impact in growing the size and scope of the domestic addressable market for IT. NASSCOM will continue to partner with its members in paving the way for IT adoption across industry verticals.”
