BANGALORE: NASSCOM today announced the commencement of the second leg of 'IT Innovation in India Awards 05' here.

The event showcased five Innovative Emerging IT companies in India that have been short listed by eminent panelists from the industry. The first leg of the event was held in Pune on November 21, where the four companies short-listed from the western regions presented before the panel.

The Indian IT — ITES industry owes a great part of its success to innovation, which continues to remain central to the evolution and rapid growth of the sector. These organizations have not only created newer, more imaginative and cutting edge products and services, they also have found revolutionary ways of satisfying customer needs.

The NASSCOM IT Innovation in India Award, in its second year now, is the premier honor for Indian IT companies who have injected innovation into existing know-how and have come up with new ideas, products, processes or technologies that enable the business to achieve higher margins and thus profits to re-invest in the business.

Post the success of this initiative in 2004; the platform has been broad based this year to include more companies innovating at various fronts. The broad categories for 2005 are Products/IPR and Services (IT Services, ITES-BPO, R&D). This forum for IT innovators in India has seen participation from 135 companies from across the industry this year. Of the short listed companies from the southern region, five are Bangalore based.
