Speaking on the MoU, Kiran Karnik, president, Nasscom, said, "India's biggest potential strength is the scalability of skills, and especially of high level skills. In the area of IT, we are already seeing an increasing recognition of this. Thus, whether it is a massive ramping up of simpler skills or deploying large numbers of doctorates, India has proven its competitive edge over rivals. However, to retain this advantage and, hopefully, further widen the gap, it is essential that we produce ever-greater numbers of even better-qualified professionals."

"Ensuring that the curriculum is up-to-date and relevant is another issue. Industry can play a major role in this by sharing trends, likely future developments and the requirement of skill-sets," he added.

As part of the MoU, Nasscom will help AICTE in identifying skill sets needed for the IT industry and projecting the manpower requirements of the industry.
