Narayanan joins Yahoo! India

BANGALORE, INDIA: Yahoo! India today appointed Ram Narayanan as its vice president, product management, marketing products division (MPD).

He was with Microsoft India.

Based out of Bangalore, he will report locally to Sharad Sharma, CEO, Yahoo! India Research & Development and functionally to Mark Morrissey, SVP, Product Management, MPD, Yahoo! Inc.

The appointment is in line with Yahoo!’s new initiative to create a Center of Excellence for Mass Market Advertisement (MMA) in Bangalore, according to a company statement.

Narayanan will be working closely with Shouvick Mukherjee, vice president, Engineering for the MPD.

The MMA CoE will focus on segments of advertisers that include search marketing, small businesses and local services.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Narayanan worked with Microsoft in India as well as Redmond from 2000.

He was the business manager and technical advisor to chairman, Microsoft India and the founder of the High Performance Computing Group.

From 1992 to 2000, Narayanan was responsible for founding two companies - Innosol Inc. and Engineering Dynamics Inc. He has an MBA and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
