Narayana Murthy steps down from NDTV board

BANGALORE, INDIA: Infosys Technologies founder and chief mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy has stepped down from the board of NDTV Ltd.

In a filing with the stock exchanges today, the broadcaster said that Murthy had expressed his inability to continue on the board “in view of increasing pressure on his time and due to his commitments within and outside Infosys”.

“In view of increasing pressure on his time and due to his commitments within and outside Infosys, N R Narayana Murthy has expressed his inability to continue as a director on the board of Directors of the company with immediate effect," the filing with the BSE said.

However, he has agreed to act as a mentor, said NDTV.

Narayana Murthy was one of the non-executive independent directors of the company. Earlier there were unconfirmed reports that Murthy had given some financial assistance to the promoters of NDTV. However, when contacted by CyberMedia, Murthy denied the same.
