Narayana Murthy is PHFI chairperson

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Infosys chief mentor and founder chairman N R Narayana Murthy has been elected as the chairperson of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

Murthy’s election took place on Monday. He will replace former McKinsey chief Rajat Gupta, who resigned from the post following insider trading charges levelled against him. After the resignation of Gupta, Dr. Y. Venugopal Reddy, former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, had been functioning as the interim chairman.

The governing council of the PHFI comprises Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Amartya Sen, Shiv Nadar, T K Nair, Y V Reddy, AK Shiva Kumar and Mirai Chatterjee among its members. The council has also renewed the appointment of K Srinath Reddy as the PFHI president for the next five years.
