Nanotech will create step change

BANGALORE, INDIA: Nanotechnology will become the next step in human evolution when it will be used for everything from gasifying coal to making efficient aircraft engines and from medicines to diagnostic tools all the way up to next-generation ceramic wares and non-stick technology.

Mano Manoharan, general manager, GE Global Research Center, said nanotechnology is still in research phases but has enabled manufacturing and time isn’t far when it transitions from science to products.

Growing population and increasing consumption has constrained resources and nanotechnology will aid researchers in making products entirely out of this technology thus freeing earth from exploitation, he said.

He also said most things have happened because we wanted big things but now making them small is what researchers are looking at.
