NAI to set up $10 m development center in B’lore

BANGALORE: Global supplier of network security and availability solutions,

Network Associates Inc., (NAI) is setting up its fourth development center in

Bangalore, India. The company is planning to make this its largest development

center in the world by next year.

In terms of investment, Network Associates, would pump in five million

dollars in the first year of its operations and scale it up to $ 10 million by

next year. The company plans to recruit about 100 professionals by the end of

the current calendar year and increase up to 200 professionals next year.

Announcing the launch of its first Asia Pacific development center in

Bangalore, Network Associates president, Gene Hodges said, "The development

center is part of the global strategy. India is a very important destination and

NAI is committed to developing in this market. Asia is one of the fastest

growing markets for such solutions and Bangalore was chosen amongst six cities

in Asia for its talent pool, infrastructure and facilities."

The development center in Bangalore will be engaged in development of NAI’s

McAfee and Sniffer product lines. NAI’s other development center in the world

are, two in USA and one in UK. Amsterdam and Beijing centers cater to the

localization of language needs in Europe and Asia.

"Most of the investment will be on people and equipment. When we are

developing anti virus products, we need to hole up a lot of virus and test it

extensively making loop-hole free. So a lot of investment will be on high end

equipments," added Hodges.
