Nadar steps down as NIIT chairman

NIIT founder and

chairman Shiv Nadar has stepped down as chairman of the company and has

passed the baton on to Rajendra Pawar, the vice-chairman and MD. Mr Pawar

will now be the executive chairman of NIIT.

The change will take place officially at

the board meeting scheduled for October. This decision follows the recent

elevation of Vineet Nayyar as chairman of another company promoted by Shiv

Nadar, HCL Comnet. Mr Nadar, in his communication, has said: "I am

certain that he (Mr Pawar) will take NIIT to new global heights and make

it one of the finest corporations in the world." According to company

sources, Mr Nadar will not hold any position in NIIT but will remain a

shareholder in the company.
