Mysore, Mangalore attract IT giants

BANGALORE: Answering the long awaited call of the state government, urging the IT companies to look beyond Bangalore for expanding their operations, Wipro and Mphasis are planning to expand in Mysore and Mangalore respectively.

India's third largest software exporter and second largest IT Corporation, Wipro Limited is planning to acquire 100 acres of land in Mysore for its expansion during the next three years. It has also disclosed its intention to buy additional 25 acres of land in Bangalore, not disclosing the time frame for the same.

Another leading Indian software exporter, Mphasis has sought to expand in Mangalore. Offering software solutions and BPO services, the company plans to hire 3,000 more professionals in the city. Mphasis presently has a workforce of over 7,000 spread across the globe.

The coastal town of Mangalore has also attracted First Indian Corporation, the Indian arm of First American Corporation, America's largest data provider. The company is looking out for 10 acres of land in the city to build its own campus. This would be the firm's third facility in a city outside Hyderabad, where it is presently operational in two facilities.
