Reliance Industries AGM 2021: Reliance Industries chairman and Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, drew no salary this year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company's chief voluntarily decided to forego his entire remuneration in FY 2020-21. In fact, reports suggest that Mukesh Ambani has not got a salary hike for the last 12 years. Since 2008-09, his annual salary as the company Chairman and MD is INR 15 crore per annum. The amount includes salary, perquisites, allowances and commission altogether. This suggests that he has foregone over Rs 25 crore per annum.

Remuneration of his cousins Nikhil and Hital Meswani remained unchanged at Rs 24 crore but this time it included Rs 17.28 crore commission. Executive Directors P M S Prasad drew Rs 11.99 crore in 2020-21, up from Rs 11.15 crore in the previous year. Further, Pawan Kumar Kapil got Rs 4.24 crore as against Rs 4.04 crore in 2019-20. Moreover, Nita Ambai, Mukesh's wife and a non-executive director on the company’s board, earned Rs 8 lakh sitting fee. She also received another Rs 1.65 crore commission for the year.

Reliance Industries has announced to hold its 2nd virtual and 44th AGM beginning June 24. The company, in a letter, addressed to stock exchanges announced that it will live-streamed the entire Reliance AGM through JioMeet for shareholders and via the YouTube channel to the general public on YouTube.
