Mukesh Ambani elected to WEF foundation board

SHIRDI (MAHARASHTRA), INDIA: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani has been elected to the foundation board of the World Economic Forum.

"Mukesh Ambani will bring an extraordinary level of business acumen and his commitment to the ideals of the Forum. He has played a key role, especially related to the integration of India into all our activities," said Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the Geneva-based WEF.

The board is composed of leaders from business, politics, academia and civil society who strongly identify themselves with the WEF's mission to improve the state of the world.

Alcatel-Lucent chief executive Ben J. Verwaayen and Zhu Min, special advisor to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have also been elected to the board.
