RICHARDSON, USA: Mavenir Systems, a leading provider of software-based networking solutions, today announced that it will provide Rich Communication Services (RCS) and WebRTC services to Mobile Telesystems (MOEX: MTSS), the leading provider of telecommunication services in Russia and the CIS.
Mavenir's RCS solution, based on its Rich Messaging Server (RMS), enables advanced multimedia services such as instant messaging, file transfer, voice calling and video conferencing through a single application installed on the phone. Mavenir is also providing its WebRTC Gateway, based on the Unified Access Gateway (UAG), to enable delivery of RCS services to the web and introduce new unified communication services for the corporate segment.
According to Pardeep Kohli, President and CEO of Mavenir Systems:"We are pleased to be working with a leading operator such as MTS to create innovative RCS services and to rapidly bring those services to the major markets of Moscow and St. Petersburg this year."
MTS sees tremendous growth potential for RCS services. OTT usage amongst MTS's 75 million subscribers in Russia is relatively low, so bundling compelling new multimedia services has the potential to attract a large number of new users.
"In the first stage, we plan to sell RCS services for 10-20 Rubles per month. We will try to attract customers by offering them a universal communication tool with a guaranteed quality," said Maksim Marasanov, Director of Products and Services Development Department, MTS. "We are aware that the RCS will affect the income from SMS and our task is to replace these losses and increase revenues, which we expect that this will be done within two years of service launch."
Mavenir's European VoLTE/RCS Centres of Excellence located in Cologne, Germany supports the deployment of VoLTE and RCS solutions to mobile operators in Europe.
