MSME ministry rolls out new scheme for SMEs

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Ministry of MSME has launched a new scheme — Promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in MSME sector — as part of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP).

This information was given by the union cabinet minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Virbhadra Singh in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

The scheme provides financial assistance to encourage MSMEs towards adopting ICT tools and applications in their business processes. Inclusion of 'Cloud Computing' under the above scheme and suitable subsidy is proposed in the scheme.

The ministry expects this programme can be an effective and affordable option to help ICT penetration among MSMEs.
