MS Outlook, now on Hutch

CHENNAI: Hutch users can now get all the benefits of Microsoft Outlook on their mobile phones. Backed by the architecture from Microsoft, with Microsoft Outlook on Hutch, subscribers can read, download and send Microsoft Outlook emails from their mobile phones. The facility even allows sending Word, Excel or Power Point attachments via their mobile phones.


This service has been launched specifically to attract the corporate users, who according to Hutchinson Essar (South) CEO Samuel Selvakumar form about 25 percent of their subscriber base in Chennai. Hutch has around 1.9 lakh subscribers in the city.


This service is available through SMS, GPRS and ActiveSync. To facilitate this service using the SMS mode, users will have to pay Rs 49 per month. With GPRS-enabled phone, users can access MS Outlook mail on a WAP URL in all the Hutch circles, at a cost of Rs 99.


The ActiveSync facility enables to receive new emails on the Hutch phone, the moment it downloads in the Microsoft Outlook inbox. Similarly, any modification done on the calendar, contact list and other features directly on the Hutch phone would be reflected on the Microsoft Outlook ID. This facility is currently available on Hutch branded Motorola MPX 200 or an iMate phone for Rs 499 per month.
