NEW DELHI, INDIA: Following the launch of Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Corporation India Private Limited today announced the global launch of Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, its hypervisor-based virtualization offering that will play a key role in delivering next generation virtualization solutions to customers.
The launch of Hyper-V is a significant step ahead in Microsoft’s vision to provide enterprises with a mission critical virtualization offering that will allow them to further reduce IT costs, improve server utilization and progress towards achieving self-managing IT infrastructures.
Hyper-V is currently available as a feature with select editions of Windows Server 2008. During the pilot phase, nearly 1.5 million copies of the Hyper-V beta version have already been distributed worldwide. The final version of Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V is available for download at http://www.microsoft.com/Hyper-V.
Hyper-V offers a reliable, scalable and high-performance virtualization platform that plugs into customer’s existing IT infrastructures and helping them consolidate some of the most demanding workloads. As the next-generation hypervisor-based server virtualization technology, Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V allows customers to make the best use of their server hardware investments by consolidating multiple server roles as separate virtual machines (VMs) running on a single physical machine.
With Hyper-V, users also may efficiently run multiple different operating systems in parallel on a single server, and fully leverage the power of x64 computing. Additionally, the Microsoft System Center suite of products gives customers a single set of integrated tools to manage physical and virtual resources, helping customers create a more agile and dynamic datacenter.
