BANGALORE: MRO-TEK has opened its third manufacturing facility at Electronics
City, Bangalore. An investment of Rs 1 crore has already been pumped into the
new facility which is expected to increase the firm’s productivity by 30 per
cent.
The facility, with a floor space of 20,000 sq feet and will have a pick and
place machine and automated testing machines. This apart, it will also have the
capacity to manufacture 1,000 modem units per day. This facility will
manufacture 64K digital Modems, converters, NT-1, 2MB modems.
The facility will operate at 30 per cent capacity this year that will be
gradually increase to 60 per cent and the remaining 40 per cent will be kept as
redundant capacity. With a capability of indigenous manufacturing, nearly 80 per
cent of delivery efficiency, quick support service and absorption of technology
will be achieved.
The firm's managing director H Nandi said, "With increasing
alliances, there is a growing product line which calls for a need to upgrade
technologies and this new facility will address that issue. We would shortly be
adding more products to our line apart from already manufacturing line drivers,
HDSL modems, 2 MB modems, NT 1’s and Converters."
"The revenues expected to be generated by the networking industry is
around Rs 5000 crore for 2000-2001 in India and this is expected to grow by
around 60 per cent. The potential for growth in networking business is
exponential as the Indian businesses and government is increasingly investing in
building infrastructure for broadband communications. We hope to capitalize on
this trend by equipping ourselves with the latest technology and reduce lead
time delivery, efficiency and real time service." added Nandi.
