MPs learn more about IT

BANGALORE: To mark the World Computer Literacy Day, Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee signed a pledge to the cause of making India computer literate. He, along with fellow parliamentarians and NIIT R&D Head Sugata Mitra participated in NIIT Swift Jyoti session.



The Prime Minister also unveiled a customized postal envelope that symbolizes the spread of computer literacy across the country. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Communications and IT, Pramod Mahajan, who took the initiative to organize this program for the parliamentarians, remarked that the spread of IT literacy will open up a world of opportunities for India, which has already built up huge equity for itself in the area of IT.



NIIT stated that this session at the Parliament Annexe is a brilliant example of the support that the World Computer Literacy Day has received and the excitement that has built up across the country.



Other leaders who participated in the World Computer Literacy Day celebrations include, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, Governor of AP, C Rangarajan, Tamil Nadu Minister of IT, D Jaykumar, Governor of West Bengal, Viren J Shah, Uttra Pradesh Minister for IT, Sheema Rizvi and Chairman of Corporation Bank, K Cherian Varghese.
