MphasiS Q1 net dips 30 p.c.

Ltd has posted a 30 per cent dip in its net profit to Rs 10.65 crore for the
first quarter ended June 30 from Rs 15.16 reported for the year-ago quarter.
Total Income has increased from Rs 86.76 crore for the quarter ended June 30,
2005 to Rs 111.37 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 showing a growth of
28.36 per cent.
The MphasiS group
has posted a net profit of Rs 15.16 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006,
which is 55 per cent less compared to Rs 33.69 crore posted for the quarter
ended June 30, 2005.
Total Income has increased from Rs 225.35 crore for the quarter ended June 30,
2005 to Rs 263.65 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 with a growth of 17
per cent.
Commenting on the results Jerry Rao, CEO of the company, said "This has been a
challenging quarter for us with cost increases from salary hikes eroding our
margins. This was aggravated by slow-downs at the front-end due to the long
process around the open offer.”
He further said, “We are, however, positive about the company's outlook
especially given the fact that we are now part of the larger
EDS Group and
expect the benefits of the alignment to start flowing through soon. We have also
invested in scale and capacity to cater to the increased demand that we expect
will flow through in the coming months."
