The report in a leading financial daily reported that MphasiS, part of the $22 billion EDS, had retrenched 200 employees at its Chennai center over the last week and another 60 in Bangalore on Tuesday.

"It is all rumors. Every company has policies of performance efficiency. But we have not fired any from our company," said an MphasiS spokesperson.

“We have increased the employees strength from 11000 in 2006 to 27000 in 2007, and we continue to hire more to meet our demands,” the spokesperson added.
