Mozilla becomes a billionaire!

BANGALORE, INDIA: Mozilla Foundation, on Friday announced that its open browser, FireFox has crossed over one billion downloads within five years of its launch.

A blog post at the Mozilla Foundation website said “This is a monumental event, Firefox has come a long way since its debut in November 2004, thanks to the amazing Firefox community.”

“Volunteers from all over the world contribute to the coding, testing and spreading of Firefox to communities across the globe,” it added.

The company has been tracking the user rate of downloads every minute and keeping the details posted on its official website aswell on the popular micro-blogging site Twitter.

The user rate of accessing the browser was recorded at 22.9 per second.
