Move to ban from govt jobs improper: Madhavan Nair

BANGALORE, INDIA: Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief G. Madhavan Nair Wednesday described as 'improper' the government's move to bar four space scientists, including him, from holding any government job.

'It is highly irregular and improper act on the part of the government,' Nair told Times Now.

The government's reported move to bar Nair and three other space scientists from holding any future government jobs follows the controversial Antrix-Devas Multimedia satellite deal, which was annulled.

The other three are K. Bhaskaranarayana, former scientific secretary at ISRO, K.R. Sridhara Murthy, former managing director of Antrix, the commercial arm of ISRO, and K.N Shankara, former director of the ISRO satellite centre.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had on May 31, 2011, constituted a five-member high-level team under the chairmanship of former Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Pratyush Sinha to examine various aspects of the agreement between Antrix and Devas.
