From the pencil-eraser-like buttons in the middle of a keyboard to touchpads,
computer makers have never developed a pointer device for laptop computer that
is as user-friendly as the traditional mouse.
Kensington of San Mateo in the northern part of the Silicon Valley claims it
has developed just such a device called the PocketMouse Pro. It is essentially a
regular mouse. But its tail, including the USB port connector retract inside the
device when dislodged from the PC.
That makes the mouse easy to slip the mouse into a pocket or purse. The
PocketMouse Pro is 4.4 inches long, 2.25 inches wide and 1.5 inches high. It
weighs 2.9 ounces (including the 3-foot cord) and costs $39,95 in US retail
stores. The device uses an optical tracking system so it can be deployed on any
surface, including your pants leg if you're flying coach.
