Motorola Moto X: Pros and cons

NEW DELHI, INDIA:Motorola has made a swashbuckling comeback with its affordable Moto G smartphone in the country and it hardly comes as a surprise that the company brings the Moto X to consumers as well. Motorola has certainly adopted a philosophy that preaches value for money proposition that Indian consumers drool on and also offering top quality devices. If Moto G ranks as the best budget device right now, then Moto X shouldn't be anything different in its arena.

Well built? Check

The Moto X continues the trend of well constructed devices from Motorola. The phone sports a 4.7 inch HD display but the most interesting aspect about the display is its crispness and touch quality which can be easily compared to the high-rung devices. We did feel that Moto G was slightly bulky for its size but with Moto X those complaints have gone away. The phone is lighter at 130 grams and better while using compared to Moto G but with its pricing, the improvement was expected. The rear panel is flushed with matte finishing body that is fingerprint magnet (easily attracts smudges) but thankfully not glossy to let it bling.

Featherlite touch and bright display

The 4.7 inch device comes with 1280×720 pixels AMOLED display that offers crisp, clear content and good viewing angles. Unlike the Corning Glass 3 on Moto G, the Moto X only gets the Corning Glass coating, so get ready to shield your phone with screen guard from day one. The phone offers top quality touch experience that's really smooth and something that not many offer in this segment. The 4.7 inch sizing has been well balanced out with spacing for bezel which is minimal and results in making the Moto X look bigger than it actually is.

Bottom line: If you're looking for the right value for money phone then Moto X is right up there with the best. Britht display, power packed, long battery life and decent camera make it an exciting option for those who are not averse to buying online or need storage expansion.

 

Deceptively fast and competent

We can come to a conclusion after using the Moto X that processors rarely matter if they are optimized to deliver efficiency. The Moto X packs a 1.7 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor clubbed with 2 GB RAM and all this hardware translates the device into a deceptively powerful performer, one that can easily match up or even better the likes of Samsung Grand 2, Gionee Elife E6 or Nexus 4. The raw performance of Moto X is easily able to outperform the said competitor's devices.

The phone supports Nano-SIM card which is not something that most of us would want to involve ourselves in, but there is no other alternative. Also, much alike the Nexus range and Moto G, this one offers internal storage only and no microSD slot, wherein the 16 GB model offers 11.8 GB usable space. The phone comes with 10 MP rear camera that offers decent images but nothing worth boasting about, simple and highly functional we would say.

The inbuilt speakers are really loud and make for excellent gaming experience. Motorola has bundled the Moto X with really handy dual-USB port charger which we wanted to highlight. During our battery tests, the 2200 mAh battery withstood for more than 8 hours on video playback that guarantees good battery life on normal usage.
