"We are delighted to offer AURA to Indian consumers with its luxurious design, artistry and sensory experience," said Faisal Siddiqui, Head of India Operations, Motorola Mobile Devices.

The unique handset breaks convention and re-establishes artistry in the design and manufacturing of mobile devices for the discerning Indian consumers, Siddiqui said.

The new phone is expected to hit the market by mid-March of 2009.

Even during recession the mobile phone is becoming a fashion statement rather than a mere gadget. What do you think of this trend? Does India need such a costly gadget at this point of time?
