NEW DELHI: The Delhi-based hardware company is setting up a facility at a
cost of Rs 310 crore in Noida to manufacture recordable and erasable CDs. The
plant, which has a capacity of producing 95 million units, has already exported
a couple of consignments to Europe. The financial partners in the project are
International Financial Corp, Washington, State Bank of India, Exim Bank, and
Industrial Development Bank of India.
Seeing the demand in the domestic market and being an export orient unit, the
company has applied for permission to sell in the domestic market.
Moser Baer, is mostly into manufacturing and exporting floppy diskettes. With
the increased use of Internet and the demand for storage space on the rise, CD-Rs
are sought after. The storage space of a CD being 650 MB while a 3.5 inch floppy
can store only 1.44 MB.
