NEW DELHI: Floppy-disk maker Moser Baer India Ltd. on Thursday announced its
entry into the audio products market through a collaboration with Germany’s
Emtec Magnetics GmbH, which owns the BASF brand name.
A Moser Baer statement said the company would start phased manufacture of
audio cassettes and handheld video camera tapes that will be sold under the BASF
brand name.
"The entry into audio products is a logical step forward for Moser Baer,
as it will ensure a presence in every segment of the recordable media
market," the statement said.
The firm said it would manufacture a bulk of the audio products at its
production facility at Noida near New Delhi and partly import the rest from
Germany.
Moser Baer plans to scale up the plant's capacity from its current level of
six million audio cassettes per year to 24 million once the demand picks up, the
statement said.
